Physically, bare and monotonous. Emotionally cold, claustrophobic and alienating. Users tend to feel disoriented when navigating through the space, and they often have trouble remembering where they park their cars. This is compounded by the fact that the space itself is neither attractive nor inviting. What would it be like to take the banal subject of parking structures and propose something new? This was the subject of my CalArts MFA thesis, and these are spreads from the book that that contained my research/studies.
